Chicago – Today, PureOFlow, Inc., a company specializing in revolutionary new ideas in water purification and launching its PureOFlow water systems to attendees of the 2009 National Restaurant Association Show (NRA) in Chicago, May 16-19, announced the winners of the innovative mixologist contest.

After a month long search that brought experienced and aspiring mixologists to the attention of PureOFlow, three seasoned mixologists—Charles Joly, Jennifer Contraveos, and Debbie Peek were selected as finalists to showcase their innovative concoctions at Mother’s Original Bar in Chicago.

While flair bartenders tend to entertain with their mastery of tricks with their barware, true mixologists understand the importance of bringing out the taste of a high quality scotch, tequila, gin, vodka or other alcoholic base in their concoction. Mixologists know that bad ice can quickly ruin the taste of a fine alcohol.

According to Mike Paice, chairman and president of PureOFlow, “We held this contest to discover someone who is passionate about the quality of their drinks and is revolutionizing the old techniques of drink mixing and to give him or her the opportunity to further this art.”

Tom Cartwright, CEO of PureOFlow kicked off the contest introducing Jeniffer, Debbie and Charles who described their recipes. Then, cheered on by a raucous crowd of National Restaurant Association attendees and bar patrons, these three finalists took turns creating their drink for sampling by the judges and the audience.

Jennifer’s “Crushed Velvet” had a base of Cabana Cachaca and Elderflower Liqueur and a simple syrup made with purified water. Muddled raspberries were added along with clear ice from purified water. Debbie followed with “Pure Corazon” based on a smooth tequila, simple syrup from purified water and sugar, fresh lime juice, cucumber and shaken with purified ice.  Charles had the perfect ending with his masterpiece “The Revolution is Now” using a gin base, and a mix of Green Chartreuse and Lillet Blanc with chamomile syrup made with purified water and sage suspended in ice made with purified water.

The recipes were different, the personalities were different and their techniques weren’t the same. But one thing these three mixologists and the audience agreed on was that clear ice and purified water let the flavors of the alcohol and other ingredients have the desired taste impact.

Based on the taste and the response from the audience and judges, each finalist was declared the winner and awarded the grand prize. The winners receive a free round trip and luxury accommodations in Las Vegas including the opportunity to mix drinks at Rhumbar at the Mirage as a guest bar chef.

A complete pure water delivery system, PureOFlow from PureOFlow is the revolutionary approach that uses reverse osmosis to deliver purified water and crystal clear ice that make up a high percent of bar mixed drinks.

Better tasting, pure water means that more of the freshness of taste is delivered to customers’ taste buds from spices, fruits and mixers – leading to healthier, snappier drinks. Restaurants and bars know that happier customers lead to higher customer participation and repeat patronage as well as the positive word of mouth that continues to generate new customers.from taste of a high quality scotch, vodka or other liquor.

“We thank Mother’s Original Bar for their part in allowing us to use their location to demonstrate to the restaurant show audience and the bar’s patrons the elemental importance of ‘sweating the details’,” said Paice.

About PureOFlow

What constitutes a revolution? Wikipedia describes it as a fundamental change that takes place in a relatively short period of time. PureOFlow’s PureOFlow system is a fundamental change in the way restaurants and foodservice businesses handle their water needs. With the revolutionary PureOFlow water purification technology, bottled water, salt-water softeners and point-of-use water filters become unnecessary, saving money, protecting the environment, reducing waste and delivering better tasting products. PureOFlow is the only water purification technology to create the equivalent of bottled water right out of the tap, crystal clear ice right out of the machine and spotless tableware out of the dishwasher.
